EICMA is a Sustainable Event, the 2022 edition receives ISO 20121 certification.
14th November 2022 - We are happy and honored to have co-operated for the third consecutive year EICMA, the International Exhibition of two wheels, to achieve the ISO 20121 Certification, the international standard for sustainable event management, assigned by TÜV NORD Italia.
EICMA 2022 confirms its leadership being the most sustainable automotive exhibition event in the world. A path towards achieving the certification supported by RIGHT HUB: we analyzed the impact characteristics in the design and organization of the event, involving and influencing all stakeholders (staff, visitors, suppliers, exhibitors, operators and media), promoting good practices and virtuous behaviors before, during and after the event.
In addition, this year a brand new and important initiative has been introduced to actively involve all exhibitors : the "Sustainable Exhibitor Award EICMA 2022" which recognizes the best practices for managing exhibitors' participation at EICMA. The panel of evaluators consisting of Right Hub, together with EICMA and PLEF-Planet Life Economy Foundation ETS awarded three exhibitors: first position for the Swedish CAKE, second position for the Danish SBS Friction, third position to the Italian SST Engineering.
The President of EICMA SpA, Pietro Meda, on the sidelines of the moment of delivery of the certificate, underlined that "EICMA is a path of responsibility, which also becomes a strategic asset for our business and a source of inspiration for our exhibitors and visitors. A commitment to sustainability, which goes hand in hand with that of the two-wheels industry that we represent and which places the event as a reference in our sector”.
Visitors to the 2022 Edition met visual communication installations on the behaviors to be adopted and increase their awareness about sustainable development. They range from bins for separate waste collection to the ban on throwing cigarette butts on the ground, up to suggestions for reaching the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition center in a green way. Sustainable management also concerns energy efficiency, the health and safety of workers involved in the organization, the accessibility of people with disabilities in EICMA and the fight against food waste with the collection of surpluses produced during the event.
